Kia Sportage AWD SUV 2022 Motoring Minute Review

We drive the Sportage on a road test review

Kia Sportage has long been a popular AWD SUV since it first launched a number of years ago. However Kia has a habit of taking a good vehicle and making it better and they did that with the 5th generation release late in 2021.

The latest generation comes in four different models, the S, SX, SX+ and GT line.

The 2.0L petrol engine is for front wheel drive versions and comes either with a six speed MT or AT

The 1.6T petrol engine comes with AWD and a 7 step DCT. The familiar 2.0L diesel comes with an 8 speed AT.

Obviously as you step up through the models there are more comfort and safety features for each new model, but overall the latest Sportage has more headroom, legroom and luggage space than before and continues the Kia tradition of specialised local suspension tuning.

One standout feature is the large curved central screen in the GT Line models.

Pricing starts from a touch over $34,600 driveaway for the entry S MT model through to $54,990 RDAP for the top spec diesel GT Line.
