Subaru BRZ S 2022 Radio Review

We drive the BRZ on a road test review

Subaru BRZ – In a world that seems to be all about SUVs it’s sometimes nice to drive a sports coupe. Last week we drove the Subaru BRZ.

2022 Subaru BRZ Coupe SUpdated early this year Subaru has managed to substantially improve what was already an excellent car.

The most important thing to note is just how much fun the BRZ is to drive.

With rear wheel drive and almost perfect balance, along with revised suspension, wider rear track, lower centre of gravity and new performance tyres means it’s like driving a go cart, without the rigid suspension.

The 2.4L petrol engine isn’t overly powerful but it’s more than enough to provide awesome driver engagement. The 6 speed manual is fun but I’ll take the automatic version please, because it’s easy to drive and gets all the safety features.

Sitting inside, the redesigned layout continues the driver experience and it’s slightly larger than before meaning more room for two people. Forget the two rear seats.

Instruments are old school meets new technology and everything is easy and intuitive to use. Surprisingly the visibility all around is good.

BRZ is priced from $38,990 plus the usual costs.

More Subaru BRZ Thoughts

Our editor Rob Fraser gave a comprehensive review at launch of the BRZ and they can be found HERE

Other than that my thoughts are as follows.

  • Everything about the BRZ is that cool blend of old school and modern.
  • The new model is improved in so many little ways over the last model and that was good as well.
  • BRZ Coupe styling is very appealing
  • The revised layout inside is also a substantial upgrade.
  • There’s more room inside but still tight for taller or larger occupants.
  • Two rear seats are useless, and even difficult to drop soft bags in there and get them out.
  • You need a lot of room for the doors to open in car parks
  • I’m glad the BRZ has a full size spare but it kills boot space.
  • Soft bags are the go for trips
  • It would be so much more practical if it was a lift back design like the Stinger.
  • You need the automatic version for all the safety features.
  • BRZ is really fun to drive!
