Ford Mustang GT V8 Coupe 2022 Review

Is the Mustang GT any good

Ford Mustang – Some car names evoke almost immediate responses in enthusiasts. The Ford Mustang is such a name. Thoughts immediately revert back to the late 60’S with the coke bottle shape and the famous car chase scene in the movie Bullitt with Steve McQueen. 2022 Ford Mustang GT V8 Coupe PROFILE

Listeners that are too young to know this movie will do well to watch it.

The current Mustang GT has traded on that emotive history exceptionally well. Buyer demographics are males in the 50 plus age group that loved the car as a youngster but could never afford it.

So to the modern version.

In short is fantastic.

With a glorious design that blends the best of history and new design language.

And that engine. Powered by a 5.0L V8 that pumps pout a mouth-watering 339kW of power and 556Nm of torque. This drives the rear wheels through a ten speed sports AT.

It’s enough to just sit in the driveway and start the engine to hear that glorious V8 burble. Music to the enthusiast’s ears.

But the Mustang has a split personality. It will happily potter around town with the occasional busrt to hear the exhaust note. Or it will explode with a delightful roar when the right peddle is floored.

In short its awesome to drive

2022 Ford Mustang GT V8 Coupe fuel economy

The one thing that surprised me more than a anything was the economy. We got around 8.2-8.8L/100K on the freeway on cruise control, but even around town the average was about 12.5l/100k. Considering the performance sitting under the right foot that was outstanding. Of course of you have a really heavy right foot at all times that will skyrocket, but that’s just not needed?

The other surprising thing is the costs. The Mustang GT AT is priced from just $68,290 plus the usual costs and that’s a stunning performance bargain
