The new Fiesta is set to make its mark in the small car segment in Australia offering customers the latest technology features in a fuel-efficient package.

The stylish new Fiesta delivers a bold new exterior; new interior fabrics; and brings new technology with the introduction of SYNC™ across the entire Fiesta range.

“Customers want cars that are expressive and fun while offering great fuel economy,” said David Katic, Marketing Manager, Ford Australia. “Fiesta delivers all the excitement drivers are looking for in a car we believe will raise the bar even higher for small cars in Australia.

“Our goal with this Fiesta was to take a car that already offered great fuel efficiency, performance, connectivity and personality, and make it even better for our customers,” Katic added.

Smart new features on new Fiesta line-up
New Fiesta is available in four highly equipped new models including entry-level Ambiente, stylish Trend, high-series Sport and high-performance ST.

Ford SYNC™ debuts on Fiesta and is now available across the Fiesta range offering hands-free, voice-activated in-car connectivity with mobile phones and media players including Bluetooth®‡ hands-free and Bluetooth®‡ music streaming. Other standard connectivity features include a USB/iPod§ port and steering wheel mounted audio controls.

“SYNC is an important feature for our tech-savvy customers as it lets them listen to music and stay connected whilst keeping their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road,” Katic said.

Other new standard features available on Ambiente and across the Fiesta range include Cruise Control with steering wheel mounted controls on the 3-spoke leather-wrapped wheel. Front and rear power windows, manual air conditioning, 6-speaker audio system and trip computer join the list of standard features.

New to Fiesta is EcoMode, which is a handy software application that measures the driver’s gear shifting where applicable, anticipation (driving as constant as possible) and speed. Those with fuel-efficient driving skills are rewarded with in-car kudos in the form of leaf icons displayed on the instrument cluster.

Safety comes standard on new Fiesta with high strength and ultra-high strength steels in the body structure to ensure rigidity and strength. Seven airbags including driver’s knee bag, ABS with BA and DSC feature on all models.

Hill Launch Assist (HLA) is new to the Fiesta range making it easier to pull away when the vehicle is on a slope without the need to use the parking brake. When a manual-transmission equipped new Fiesta is on a gradient greater than 4%, the vehicle will remain stationary for a short time after the driver releases the brake pedal. During this time, the driver has time to move their foot to the accelerator and pull away. The brakes are then released automatically.

Additional to the comprehensive standard feature list on Ambiente, Fiesta Trend gains front fog lamps, stylish new 15” x 6” alloy wheels and series badging.

Both Ambiente and Trend are available with Ford’s new 1.5-litre Duratec engine, delivering 82 kW and 140 Nm of torque and returning 5.8 l/100km, a 0.3 l/100km improvement on the previous generation 1.6-litre engine. Transmission choices include 6-speed PowerShift dual-clutch or 5-speed manual transmission.

“The new 1.5-litre Duratec offers customers an improvement in both fuel economy and CO2 emissions when compared with the outgoing 1.6-litre whilst still providing customers with power when they need it,” Katic said.

The new Fiesta Sport arrives in December 2013 standard with Ford’s award-wining 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine delivering 92 kW and 170 Nm of torque and 4.9 l/100 km and 115 g/km CO2 when mated to the standard 5-speed manual transmission. A 6-speed PowerShift dual-clutch transmission is optional.

“Ford’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine won the International Engine of the Year award in 2012 and has again in 2013 which is a real proof point that the Fiesta Sport is a SMART, high-tech vehicle.”

The Fiesta 1.0-litre EcoBoost also recently won Women’s World Car of the Year as well as taking out the economy car category.

Fiesta Sport arrives with 16”x6” alloy wheels complimented by a sports roof spoiler, front mini-spoiler and Sports series badging for a dynamic and bold exterior look.

The interior receives additional luxury touches including partial leather sport seat inserts, Sony branded audio system with 4.2” colour TFT screen and 8 speakers.
