Mazda CX-5 Sets the Benchmark for Fuel Economy and Torque
Mazda Australia today confirmed that CX-5 models powered by the new 2.2 litre SKYACTIV-D clean diesel engine will deliver class-leading combined cycle fuel economy of just 5.7 litres per 100km.
As the first Mazda to feature the full range of the company’s new SKYACTIV Technology, the CX-5 not only delivers fuel efficiency like never before but also incredible driving dynamics.
In addition to delivering class-leading fuel-efficiency, the new 2.2 litre SKYACTIV-D engine also provides drivers with a class-leading 420Nm of torque and 129kW of power.
These figures put the new CX-5 in a league of its own when compared to the best-selling SUV’s in Australia, with CX-5 beating all-comers on both fuel efficiency and torque.
With diesel-powered CX-5s mated to All-Wheel Drive and the new SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmission Mazda is delighted to offer a diesel automatic combination in Australia for the first time.
“We’ve been keen to add a diesel engine with an automatic transmission to our range for quite some time. The development of the CX-5 and our new SKYACTIV Technology has given us this opportunity and, quite frankly, we can’t wait to get it here,” said Mazda Australia national marketing manager Alastair Doak.
“There’s certainly demand for a diesel automatic combination, particularly in the SUV segment and with the right powertrain combinations, plus all-new technology and design we’re confident that CX-5 has the goods to become one of Australia’s most popular SUVs.”
In addition to new SKYACTIV engines and transmissions, the CX-5 also features Mazda’s new SKYACTIV body and chassis for improved dynamics and safety.
The CX-5 is also the first Mazda production car to feature the KODO: Soul of Motion design language previously showcased on the Minagi concept.
