Renault strives to carve a larger niche with the Koleos

Renault Koleos 600
The revised styling of the Phase II Renault Koleos goes on sale today in Australia, 3 years after the launch of the original model.

Renault has revitalised the innovative Koleos crossover with a host of high-end features and an elegant and expressive new frontal treatment, as it strives to carve out a larger niche for the brand in one of the hottest market segments in Australia.

Adding satellite navigation as standard to all models, and black leather upholstery with contrast stitching to the volume selling mid-specification Dynamique model, gives adventuresome families two practical and enjoyable luxury features.

The top-of-the-range Privilege model comes with a panoramic glass roof and now adds bi-xenon headlamps with fixed cornering lights and 18-inch alloy wheels as standard, while a new signature colour, Cayenne Orange available across the range, ensures the new Renault Koleos will stand out in any car park.

Exclusive to the Renault Koleos Dynamique and Privilege models is the innovative child-minder mirror which allows the driver to easily view the rear seat occupants – a particularly useful feature for parents of young children.

The Koleos benefits from family-adventure–friendly storage cubbies, flexible seating adjustment and load carrying solutions, a full armoury of passive and active safety systems and the seal of approval of a 5 Star EuroNCAP crash-test rating.

Despite the upgrades inside and out, the range continues with a national drive-away price of $29,990 for the Expression 4×2 manual.

The Koleos range offers a choice of the Nissan-developed 2.5-litre petrol, or refined and frugal Renault designed 2.0-litre dCi turbo-diesel, four-cylinder engines. Compared with the original Koleos, the diesel engine in the new Koleos has an 8.5% reduction in fuel economy and emits 9.5% less CO2. New Renault Koleos is a genuinely versatile vehicle. It is comfortable and nimble in the city, yet it boasts real off-road ability. It is ideal for escaping from the urban jungle to the great outdoors thanks to its Nissan-derived all-wheel drive traction system (4×4 only).

There are three generously equipped trim levels on offer, Expression (petrol only, 4×2 only), Dynamique and the range-topping Privilege (petrol only, 4×4 only).

The range offers access to extensive equipment specification including all Renault’s convenient and practical technologies, parking sensors, hands-free entry and ignition, joystick-operated integrated satellite navigation, Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist.

This elegant crossover boasts impeccable quality. Designed by Renault and manufactured at the acclaimed Renault Samsung Motors plant in Busan, South Korea, it delivers a reassuring drive whatever the terrain.

Commenting on the launch of the new Koleos, Justin Hocevar, Managing Director of Renault Australia, said; “We are very excited to launch the Phase II Koleos crossover now.

“We know the original Koleos was under-appreciated in Australia, and the revisions to styling and the additional features we have loaded into it mean we will be able to attract more interest in the Phase II versions.

“The new Koleos boasts more value and more style than the model it replaces.

“It is versatile and practical and now more luxurious, enticing and visually satisfying. There has never been any question over its ability in 4×4 guise in off-road conditions. It is the ideal vehicle for chic city dwellers or ‘tree-changers’ who need real 4×4 drive ability but want elegant family transport at the same time.

“We are confident that the attractive body, attractive feature list and attractive price points for these new models will result in far more Renault Koleos crossovers exploring the great Australian countryside in the very near future,” Justin said.

“And offering even more peace-of-mind is Renault’s factory-backed, class-leading, 5 year/ unlimited kilometre warranty and 5 years’ road side assistance.”
