Nissan X-Trail Ti-L AWD SUV 2023 Review

Nissan X-Trail Ti-L – Last week we spoke about the Nissan ST-L, this week we are chatting about the top model the X-Trail Ti-L.

2023 Nissan X-Trail Ti-L AWD SUV front 4 The Ti-L comes in a five seat AWD version only. It is priced from $52,990 plus the usual costs.

The X-Trail is Nissans bestselling vehicle and the all new model has revitalised sales in the segment.

Built on a new platform the new X-Trail is has better ride and handling than the previous model and is smooth, quiet, and compliant over rough roads.

Powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine maximum power is 135kW, and maximum torque is 244Nm. This is matched to a seven step CVT for maximum economy. ADR economy figures are 7.8L/100K. One good feature is a 2000kg towing capacity.

The Ti-L comes with a 10.8-inch HUD, 12.3-inch driver instrument display and a 12.3-inch central touch screen. Other exclusive features include a motion sensor rear tailgate, 10 speaker premium Bose audio system, memory function for the front electric seats, and a heated steering wheel plus more.

The Nissan X-Trail Ti-L is a well-equipped, luxurious, and practical mid-sized SUV and is fair value.

Mid sized AWD SUVs are everywhere. Its a matter of choosing one that suits you best. Almost every manufacturer has one.

Buyers could look at Subaru Forester, Peugeot 3008, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-5, Toyota RAV4, Citroen C5 Aircross, Jeep Compass, plus many more.

General thoughts about the Nissan X-Trail Ti-L

  • The all-new model brings some styling and finesse to the model.
  • The interior has a premium feel to it. Nappa Leather, soft touch points and black woodgrain panelling all add to the ambience.
  • Front seats are heated, comfortable and the electronic lumbar adjustment was appreciated by my ageing back.
  • Large driver instrument panel contains a multitude of information and configurability.
  • The 12.3-inch central screen is crisp, clear, and functional.
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and charging as well as wired Android Auto is standard in the Ti-L
  • Rear seats are spacious and comfortable. Boot is again spacious.
  • There are air vents in the second row and tri zone A/C
  • The Ti-L is a five-seat version only and that makes sense. I’m never a fan of seven seats in this size vehicle.
  • The petrol engine is adequate if a little sluggish a times with the CVT.
  • Paddle shifts are useless like they are on 95% of cars.
  • Ride and handling are taught, especially on windy roads. The suspension can get a little unsettled on poor back roads.
  • Steering is responsive and changes with drive mode selection.
  • Drive modes include eco, normal and sport, and the Ti and Ti-L, add Snow and Off-road.
  • This doesn’t change the ride, just the transmission mapping.
  • It comes with the Nissan Pro-Pilot safety system, its good but can be a touch intrusive.

Nissan X-Trail Ti-L Final thoughts

The X-Trail has been a successful model for Nissan over the years. Like a lot of us it has grown a bit and gotten a bit softer as its now an AWD SUV rather than a 4WD. But it has become more comfortable and luxurious inside.

The TI-L has all the extra goodies that buyers seem to want.

Its starting to become a little expensive but also offer a lot for the money.
