The BMW Z4 sDrive35is Coupé-Cabriolet is now available. We took it for a drive as part of the Going Topless for Summer series. We found the BMW Z4 sDrive35is a very cool ride.

The heart starts pumping faster, palms sweaty and a genuine sense of excitement exists. Ladies and Gentlemen BMW Australia proudly announces arrival of the high-performance BMW Z4 sDrive35is. The BMW Z4 sDrive35is features a modified straight-six, Twin Turbo engine, coupled with BMW’s seven speed Sport Automatic transmission with double clutch operation. A unique M Sports Package including adaptive M Suspension, completes the high performance offering.

For affordable performance top down motoring it doesn’t get any better than the BMW Z4 sDrive35is. Its design is reminiscent of the halcyon days of the evocative E-Type Jag with the long low sleek profile and extra long bonnet. Even the interior has strong design clues from that most beautiful of sports cars.

Sit in the BMW Z4 and you notice it is singular in purpose; the driver’s cockpit is designed with sports driving in mind. The seats are tight and you certainly feel cocooned.

Forget the luggage as nothing more than an overnight bag will fit in the boot and you will be hard pressed to find a suitable space for those extra large handbags that seem to be fashionable these days.

The singular purpose is fast driving for two people.

However all the shortcomings are forgiven when you start the motor and hear that throaty exhaust growl. Push the go pedal and the growl turns to a howl and any problems are whisked away as fast as the Z4 accelerates.

It handles like a go-cart, is amazingly tight even with the top down on uneven surfaces and just screams FUN.

The near perfect 50/50 balance and combination of front engine and rear wheel drive delivers a mouth-watering driver experience. Feedback and response to driver input through the small leather steering wheel is razor sharp.

The top will go down in about 20 seconds with the push of a button and reveals what is arguably the most attractive Coupé-Cabriolet in its class.

The BMW Z4 sDrive35is features a modified straight-six twin turbo engine with an output of 250 kW. Accelerating from standstill to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, the roadster’s performance time is identical to the six-speed manual BMW M3 Coupé. Peak torque is 450 Nm, increasing briefly to 500 Newton-metres courtesy of an overboost function.

To help you win the traffic light derby the new Z4 is fitted with BMW’s seven-speed Double Clutch Transmission, which includes a launch control function. It is seamless to use and makes the most of the abundant power from the straight six motor.
The unique M Sport Package features a particularly aggressive-looking aerodynamics kit and includes adaptive suspension, which lowers the car by 10 millimetres.

This means the Z4 sDrive35is goes fast, handles and stops superbly, like you would expect from BMW. In short it is an awesome two door Coupé-Cabriolet.

Being the top of the range the Z4 sDrive35is comes with a heap of extras as standard and surprisingly for BMW, which always has a long and expensive options list, there is little you would want. Which is good considering that the Z4 sDrive35is has a MLP of $129,900.
