Getting a camper is the dream of many travellers. Isn’t it perfect to be able to discover this marvelous world on your house on wheels? If you are a lucky owner of a motorhome and want to hit the road right now, don’t hurry. A road trip is a beautiful adventure, indeed, but there are all manner of things you need to check before the departure. Check our list in order to avoid any unpleasant situation on your way.

Tyres

Needles to say, this piece of advice concerns any vehicle one travels with. All motorhome dealers would say the same thing: check your tires before hitting the road. If you want to overcome thousands of miles and not stop only after a dozen of them, make sure the tires are inflated properly.

You might need to use a tire gauge to measure the pressure inside them. It will not only save you from wasting time on the road but can also save your life. Many accidents happen daily due to flat tires. Overinflated wheels also cause a lot of problems. For a long journey, checking the conditions of the tires is the first and foremost step. Don’t put the health and life of the passengers and you at stake.

Leaks

Unbeknown to many RV owners, the motorhomes are very vulnerable to water damage. Check windows, doors, hatch, and seams for being in good condition even weeks before you decide to travel, don’t postpone it till the very last day. Only in this case, will you have enough time to fix a problem if needed.

Habitation Area

The area where you and your family will sleep and spend a lot of time should be as comfortable as possible. Make sure you have prepared everything needed. If, while travelling by plane, we try to take as few things as possible, the motorhome is not the case.

Pack everything you would need in a normal house—blankets, clothes, kitchenware, medication, documents, et cetera. Make a list of things you would need during the trip days before it, and make sure you don’t omit anything.

Here, you can find a list of the most common things you’ll probably have to pack:

Under The Hood

Oil:

Changing oil is important to any vehicle you are travelling with. RV is not an exception to this rule. Using high-quality, good, clean oil will keep things running smoothly in your house on wheels.

Filters:

Alongside with changing oil, the filters need to be checked and changed too. Air filters have to be changed regularly too.

Wipers:

Driving in the rain with obnoxiously squeaking wipers might turn your journey into a nightmare. You can prevent this unpleasant experience by checking and replacing them regularly.

Air Conditioner:

AC is what you all trip depends on. If it’s too hot or too cold in the vehicle, no one will be able to admire the beauty of the places you’re visiting. Remember to check your air conditioner, whether it’s running properly. If your air conditioner gets broken in the middle of nowhere on a very hot or extremely cold day, you can devastate your whole travelling experience.

The Last Thing

Travelling across the world on your own RV might be very exciting. It can become one of the best memories in life. The advantages of this type of travelling are countless. However, if you don’t want your pleasant memory to accidentally turn into a daylight nightmare, check all the possible things before you hit the road.

Don’t be afraid to seem too apprehensive or pedantic. When it comes to the safety and happiness of your family and you, all efforts are worth your while. Be as prepared as possible before every marvelous adventure of your life, and it will become the most beautiful moment you’ll bear in memory.
