Honda Foundation Provides Cots for Families in Need

The Honda Foundation has donated $9,800 to not-for-profit organisation St Kilda Mums for their Cots for Tots program for the purchase of 70 new cots.

St Kilda Mums collects donated baby items such as cots, children’s clothing, prams, car seats, nursery equipment and other essentials. The items are then repaired and cleaned before being passed on to families in need through a growing network of over 200 social service agencies.

Chairman of The Honda Foundation, Mr. Stephen Collins, attended an Open Day hosted by St Kilda Mums on Saturday 3 May to hand over the Foundation’s generous contribution.

“It was encouraging to see so much community support at the St Kilda Mums Open Day for an organisation making real social change.

“The Honda Foundation is delighted to provide this donation towards the Cots for Tots program. St Kilda Mums is exactly the kind of organisation the Foundation is keen to support,” Mr. Collins said.

The program receives pre-loved cots from the community as well as monetary donations such as The Honda Foundation contribution to purchase new cots. 2014 is the second year that St Kilda Mums has run its Cots for Tots program, as cots are consistently the most sought after item.

The Honda Foundation’s contribution will fund the purchase of approximately 70 cots, going a long way towards helping St Kilda Mums reach its target of 400 cots by the end of May this year.

The Honda Foundation aims to provide assistance to local communities and foster goodwill among Honda Australia, Honda Motor Vehicle Dealers and the public. It draws funding from Honda Dealers and Honda Australia. The Honda Foundation’s ‘Honda Heroes’ loan vehicle program supports charitable organisations through a fleet of loan vehicles, assisting with activities for the disadvantaged, disabled or those suffering from illness.
