Fiat Launches ‘Tricolore’ 500 and Freemont

2014 Fiat Tricolore 500 and Freemont
Fiat has boosted its 500 and Freemont model ranges, adding ‘Tricolore’ special editions which honour the red-white-green colours of the Italian flag.

The unique ‘Tricolore’ additions represent more than $1,500 worth of extras for no change in the retail price.

Fiat has introduced the ‘Tricolore’ special edition for the cute Fiat 500 Lounge hatchback ($20,300) and the Fiat Freemont Urban ($28,330 for the petrol and $32,600 for the diesel).

The special edition Tricolore model Fiats are identified by their red-white-green body stripe decals and chrome exterior mirrors.

Inside there are floor mats also adorned with the red-white-green stripes.

In addition, Fiat ‘Tricolore’ buyers will receive an Italian flag design key for the 500 or a special boxed ‘Tricolore’ key-ring for the Freemont.

Announcing the special edition models, Fiat Chrysler Group President and CEO Veronica Johns said the Italian heritage is never far from the minds of Fiat buyers.

“Our ‘Tricolore’ limited edition 500 and Fremont models proudly show the true colours of Italy and celebrate Fiat which is an iconic Italian brand, Ms Johns said. “These new additions again highlight the great value-for-money of the Fiat range.”

The Fiat 500 Lounge which underpins the ‘Tricolore’ model boasts impressive standard equipment tailor-made for buyers of the hip Italian three-door hatchback including a fixed glass roof with a sun blind, 15-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, chrome bumper accents, climate control air-conditioning and fuel-saving auto start/stop.

Power comes from Fiat’s award-winning 875cc TwinAir two-cylinder petrol engine.

This remarkable multivalve powerplant produces 63kW of power at 5500rpm and peak torque of 145Nm from just 1900rpm to combine a dynamic and fun driving experience with the added benefit of reduced fuel consumption (combined-cycle 3.9l/100kms) and exhaust emissions.

At the heart of the TwinAir engine is an electro-hydraulic valve management system which reduces fuel consumption by controlling air directly via the inlet valves (without using the throttle).

Fiat has also added the ‘Tricolore’ treatment to its competent Freemont Urban mid-size SUV which is available in both five-seat and seven-seat configurations and provides a massive family-friendly cargo volume of 1,461-litres.

The Fiat Freemont Urban model on which the ‘Tricolore’ special edition is based gains substantial extra features including a large-screen (8.4-inch) Uconnect infotainment system which includes a DVD player, dual-zone automatic temperature control, six-way electronic adjustment for the drivers’ seat, a leather-wrapped gear-lever and Sunscreen glass.

Power comes from either a 125kW/220Nm 2.4-litre petrol engine or a 125kW/350Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel.

The Fiat ‘Tricolore’ special edition models are now available at Fiat dealerships nationally.
