Toyota HiLux Rugged X Radio Segment April 11

Rob Fraser takes the Toyota HiLux Rugged X for a Road Test Review

2018 Toyota HiLux Rugged XToyota HiLux Rugged X Overview

In the continual surge of Utes trending upmarket, Toyota has introduced the HiLux Rugged X as the top model in the range. The question is how it compares to others in that segment. Rob Fraser from UteGuide takes up the story.

HiLux Rugged X is aimed at the recreational 4WD market, based on the SR5 dula cab 4WD model. It comes with a number of additional features that many buyers would add as aftermarket accessories.

Rigged X adds a LED light bar, winch compatible heavy duty front bar as well as a front scrape plate, snorkel, front recovery points, integrated tow bar, a sports bar in the tub and distinctive decals that all combine to promote an aggressive style.

Inside there are heated leather seats and a redesigned dash with white on black dials.

It retains the HiLux engine and transmission and legendary 4WD capability and is priced from   $63,690* plus on road costs for the automatic.
