Peugeot 2008 GT Sport Full 2021 Review

Peugeot 2008 GT Sport – I loved this car when we previewed it last year. 2008 is Peugeot’s best kept secret with two trim levels, the Allure, and range topping GT Sport.

Here’s what David said:

Peugeot 2008 is aggressively good looking.

Sport gets LED headlights with 3 big cells continuing the 3-claw theme, along with a huge DTRL.

Built-in roof rails have useful accessories, but you can’t simply tie things to it. 2008 GT Sport gets a nice graphite coloured 18” alloys to sit under the wide, muscular shoulders.

The cabin is classy.

Seats are comfortable, with powered adjustment for the driver.

2008 has the latest of i-Cockpit with a 3D digital driver’s and an HUD. Rear space is cosy, with tons of room to get feet under the seats in front.

The boot has a maximum of 1467L with a 44L fuel tank and 16” spare wheel under the floor.

Here is what Alan said:

The 1.2L 3 cylinder comes in two settings: 96kw/230Nm or114kw/240Nm. The  former has a 6-speed automatic, withan 8-speed in the other?

The GT Sport is a much better drive, with a 0-100 is done in 8.7 seconds and a combined fuel figure of 6.1l/100k.

Ride is luxurious as it is in most Peugeots. Suspension is MacPherson struts at the front and a  deformable crossmember at the rear. NOTE: in the video I thought it might have been MULTILINK

Steering is light and precise, with variable assistance, and drive mode select.

The Blind Spot Monitor would not work despite restarting the 2008. Peugeot advised us to toggle it off then on again, and sure enough it.

A Manufacturing Error meant that 86 2008 GT Sports have no lane centering and active cruise control. It can’t be fixed so they’re being sold as a GT Sport Launch Special at the reduced price below.

When we asked Peugeot about this, we received this:

“Peugeot Australia has been advised of a variation in specification due to a manufacturing irregularity in relation to the Peugeot 2008 GT Sport.

“The impacted vehicles do not feature Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function and Active Lane Keeping Assistance.

“There are 86 vehicles that are impacted and will be known as the “Launch Special” Peugeot 2008 GT Sport. These vehicles will have a reduced Manufacturers List Price of $41,990.

“The factory has advised us that additional quality controls have been implemented to help minimise the occurrence of variations in specification occurring.”
