Drive Against Depression further expands mental health message with inaugural Adelaide Autumn Drive.

2023 DAD Christmas Drive Day 001

After successfully expanding its reach via multiple events across the eastern seaboard. Australian registered mental health charity Drive Against Depression (DAD) is set to create further impact. Via a first foray into the stunning Adelaide Hills region of South Australia.

The inaugural Adelaide Autumn Drive event, is set for Sunday April 7th, 2024. It builds on the incredible momentum generated by the charity and its committed volunteer network over the last year. Which saw debut drive events in Queensland and New South Wales, as well as multiple experiences in Victoria.

“The message from our community is strong. What DAD does to support mental wellness is vital. Opening up our trademark drive experiences is a fantastic way to further our impact,” said DAD Co-Founder, Sarah Davis.

“DAD’s drive days are social, non-competitive and open to all. And are grounded in the intention to normalise conversations about mental health. There are no minimum car requirements for participation; if it’s registered and you love it, bring it.

“We are really excited to bring our unique blend of mental health support, education and driving fun to South Australia for the first time, and invite you to join us,” she said.

Inaugural Drive Against Depression South Australian event

The inaugural South Australian event will commence from the legendary McLaren Vale wine region. Where our community will be joined by guest speakers Prof. Nicholas Procter and Dr. Kate Rhodes.

Nicholas is the Chair of Mental Health Nursing at UniSA and Australia’s national representative to the International Association for Suicide Prevention. Kate lectures at UniSA, has three qualifications in nursing. Including mental health nursing, and has 27 years of experience working with mental health teams.

Nicholas and Kate will inform on suicide prevention support. As well as safety planning and how to live with meaning and purpose. Their style is accessible, relevant and authentic, and DAD is privileged to share their insights.

For the drive from McLaren Vale, entrants will take a stunning route through the historic Clarendon township. Before stopping at the autumnal splendour that is Stirling. To take in the fresh air, share stories and create meaningful connections. They also have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious Gelista ice cream. The artisan South Australian gelati makers who are supporting DAD’s purpose at this inaugural Adelaide Autumn Drive.
