Award-winning Jeep Grand Cherokee now number one for Luxury SUV’s in 2011

Chrysler Australia has continued its recent sales success with another strong sales month for the business, according to official VFACTS figures for October. This success was again lead by outstanding sales of the award-winning Grand Cherokee; now number one in the Luxury SUV segment in 2011YTD.

Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge (CJD) for October was 173 units up on last year (937 units v’s 764 in October 2010) as was YTD (9,434 v’s 7,306 in October 2010). Total market share was steady at 1.1% for October and 1.1% for 2011YTD.

The all new Jeep Grand Cherokee continues to deliver outstanding results for Chrysler Australia, now number one in the Luxury SUV segment with 403 units in October, eclipsing the next placed competitor by 152 units. The Grand Cherokee has officially taken first place in 2011 YTD volume, now 46 units ahead of the past segment leader.

The 2011 Grand Cherokee’s premium on-road performance and world-class interiors have made it the most capable and refined Grand Cherokee ever, with widespread acclaim and a deserving leader of the Luxury SUV race.

Veronica Johns, General Manager, National Sales at Chrysler Australia said it was a brilliant achievement to be number one.

“The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee just keeps on getting better – to be number one so soon after launch is a credit to the Grand Cherokee’s performance, design and pricing”.

“The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is really striking a chord. We have had exceptional feedback from customers and dealers alike; it really is the best value premium SUV in the Australian market,” said Ms Johns.

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee’s power, performance, safety features and luxurious interiors are comparable to that of European SUV contenders, but from just $45,000.

Other highlights for CJD included a strong month for Dodge Caliber, with 176 retails and in the highly competitive small car segment. Jeep Wrangler is set to see a boost as summer approaches following the launch of a new TV campaign and strong sponsorships. CJD Australia is also anticipating strong interest in the new Jeep Compass, set for launch in early in 2012.
