The striking new Hyundai Elantra, whose exterior bares a striking resemblance to a smiling face, has brought a fantastic new successful car to the Hyundai range. With a contoured and ‘wind-swept’ design, available in seven colours, 17 inch alloy wheels, a dark black chrome surround radiator grille and sunroof, the Hyundai Elantra certainly makes a lasting impression.

Powered by a 1.8L petrol engine, producing 110kW of power @ 6500rpm and 178Nm of torque @4700rpm, the Elantra has a responsive and reasonably powerful acceleration drive. With a 6 speed automatic transmission, the Elantra has a combined fuel consumption of 7.1L/100km and a reasonable 9.5L/100km around town. The Elantra is a rather small sedan with a coupe-like appearance, however do not be fooled, space has not been compromised. Inside the car it is rather roomy and the boot has a surprising 485L capacity.

The Hyundai Elantra Premium boasts a glovebox, center floor console storage, dual cup holders both front and back, a storage compartment in the lower center fascia, back seat pockets, front and rear door storage with bottle holder and a center console side storage recess. The leather seats are equipped with heaters in the front and the drivers seat is fully adjustable with power lumbar support and the tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel provides a comfortable driving position.

In the Hyundai Elantra Premium, the center console houses dual zone climate control, AM/FM radio, CD player with MP3 compatibility, Bluetooth handsfree, 6 speakers, auxiliary and USB input with iPod compatibility and steering wheel mounted audio and Bluetooth controls. In typical Hyundai design, the dashboard and instrument cluster is illuminated blue, as are the audio and air-conditioning controls, adding a little something extra and unique to the Hyundai range.

With a 5 star ANCAP safety rating, the Hyundai Elantra Premium is jam packed with technology to ensure the safety of all occupants. It boasts ABS, BAS, EBD, ESC, TCS and VSM. The rear view mirror adjusts to day and night, the headlights are auto dusk sensing and the Elantra Premium is equipped with rear park assist and rear view camera to ensure maximum safety for those both in and outside the car. The Elantra Premium has front, rear, side and curtain airbags, side impact intrusion bars on all doors, crush zones and impact absorbing bumpers.

Front seat belts are equipped with pretensioners, load limiters and are height adjustable and all occupants head restraints are adjustable as well. The Hyundai Elantra’s doors automatically lock with speed and the Elantra also has central locking, engine immobiliser, keyless entry with alarm and push button start.

Hyundai has done a fantastic job in creating a car that has brought a new refreshed look to the sedan body and incorporates comfort, convenience, excellent handling and style effortlessly.
