Genesis G80 3.5T AWD Sedan 2021 Review

Genesis G80

Will the Genesis brand succeed in Australia or will it follow the Eunos and Infiniti and simply disappear over time?

Genesis G80, Launched late in 2020 in Australia, joins the small but important group of luxury sedans that hold up a strong barrier to the ever increasing march of SUVs.

There are two engine variants, a 2.5L and the pick the 3.5T V6 which provides a sporty edge and smooth daily driving.

Genesis G80 actually looks quite elegant and attractive. Plenty of people commented on its looks while I had it. It has a large grill flanked by twin stripe quad LED headlamps.

Overall it’s quite appealing, doing nothing spectacular but draws people’s attention.

Sit inside the G80 and you enter a world of luxury, comfort and elegance.

Firstly the colour combination of dark exterior with Vanilla Beige Nappa Leather seats and open pore Eucalyptus wood highlights is stunning.

The air conditioned front seats are exceptionally comfortable with multiple electronic adjustments and a massage function, called Ergo Motion, for the driver.

Genesis G80 is priced at $99,900 plus the usual costs and the $13,000 luxury option pack is pretty much a must have.

The question for buyers is, will they forsake their brand snobbery and buy a car equally as good for a lot less money.
