Toyota upgrades their Technology

RAV4 to be first Toyota to receive no-cost Apple CarPlay/Android Auto retrofit

If you own a car you get use to its control systems.  David Brown asked what if you borrow one.

In the future, rather than own a car, we might share vehicles as we need them.

But with modern technology, it can take a while to get comfortable with the particular controls of a different vehicle.

A few years ago, Toyota told me that would always have their own interface design between driver and the infotainment system.

But now they will add smartphone-mirroring technology to selected models.

Apple Car play and Android Auto means you can get the familiar controls of your phone on the car screen or via voice commands.

Toyota Australia’s move leaves Nissan as the only other top-10 brand to not offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
