MY18 Subaru Outback 3.6RSubaru’s Model Year 2018 Outback wagon debuts this month with a fresh new look and a suite of Vision Assist features in premium variants that add to its All-Wheel Drive edge.

Outback features redesigned front bumper, grille, headlights, wing mirrors and wheel patterns.

And there are exciting technical changes too: front and side view monitors on premium variants ensure the updated look is matched with the latest technology, including the new generation touchscreen audio unit.

The tablet-type central display features Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto technology.

The third generation EyeSight® Driver Assist system adds Lane Keep Assist.

Stylish cabin changes are made to the steering wheel, air conditioning panel and vents, and stitching is added to the instrument panel, adding to the high quality finish.

The 2.5-litre engine, suspension and transmission are refined for greater response, efficiency and driving pleasure too.

Despite the significant changes, entry-level pricing remains the same as the superseded model at $36,240 Manufacturer’s List Price (MLP)* for Outback 2.5i and $38,740 MLP for the 2.0D (diesel).

Subaru Australia Managing Director, Colin Christie, said: “Outback sold 11,340 in 2017 and has been a consistent best-seller for us in the current generation, so we think the latest long list of refinements will only add to its appeal in the SUV space.

“The upgrades across every key area underline our commitment to value for our customers, together with the durability, engineering and, of course, safety, for which Subaru is renowned.”

As with the entire Subaru range, Outback maintains a five-star rating for occupant safety from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).

EXTERIOR
The refreshed front end includes:

Rugged and stylish new alloy wheel designs feature across all variants (17-inch Outback 2.0D. All others 18-inch).
New colours are:

New design LED high and low beam headlights in Outback 2.5i Premium, 3.6R and 2.0D Premium are integrated with Steering Responsive Headlight (SRH) and the Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) functions.

The bi-functional LED lights allow switching between high and low beam with a single bulb.

The LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) are integrated into the headlights, matching the C-shaped design, making the vehicle instantly recognizable on-road as a Subaru.

INTERIOR

The larger centre dashboard panel has a classy flat face, with high gloss black surrounds and silver frame, producing the appearance of a large tablet device.

The larger 8-inch head unit (in 2.5i Premium, 3.6R and 2.0D Premium variants) includes a bigger screen, improved operability and further enhanced infotainment – contributing to a more advanced and engaging cabin interior.

Extra instrument panel stitching, plus high gloss black panels in strategic, high visibility locations, also enhance the look.

The newly designed steering wheel has a solid, sporty look.

For added convenience, two additional USB ports are located in the back of the centre console, easily accessible by rear seat passengers.
