All-New Subaru Forester: Designed for Adventure, Engineered for Confidence

A stylish yet purposeful design built for real-life

The all-new Subaru Forester presents a bold evolution in SUV design – wider, more athletic, and purpose-built for Australian conditions. From first glance, its assertive stance is defined by rugged wheel arch cladding, a larger hexagonal grille, and striking C-shaped LED headlights. These high-grade headlights are standard across the range and incorporate LED daytime running lights, steering responsive functionality, and new to Forester cornering lamps for enhanced visibility at intersections.

Strong character lines and sculpted panels suggest forward motion even when stationary, while a reshaped roofline and optimised aerodynamics signal efficiency without compromising rugged appeal. Integrated roof rails, redesigned bumpers, and refined surface textures further enhance its off-road readiness and durability.

The side profile reveals sleeker, more aerodynamic door mirrors, now mounted lower and more compact, with improved horizontal viewing angles and integrated features including electric folding, turn signals, mirror heaters, Side View Monitor camera, and Blind Spot Monitor.

Every Forester wears an aluminium bonnet – reducing bonnet weight and enhancing pedestrian protection – with a commanding shape that reinforces its SUV identity. A unique grille finish for each variant adds further distinction across the range.

All Forester variants ride on alloy wheels, offered in either 18-inch or 19-inch sizes (depending on the variant) with varied finishes to match each variant’s personality. While petrol variants feature a full-size 18-inch spare hybrid models come with a puncture repair kit. However, there is a local accessory spare wheel solution available for hybrid customers who prefer a physical spare, with pricing and order available from today.

The Right Colour for Every Road

The all-new Forester is available in a broad palette of paint colours, including two brand new options for Subaru and one for the Forester range. Daybreak Blue Pearl and River Rock Pearl make their debut to a Subaru model, while Cashmere Gold Opal is made available to Forester for the first time.

All external colours are available for all Forester petrol-only and hybrid variants at no extra cost.

Subaru Forester Elevated Interior for an Even More Enjoyable Journey

The all-new Forester brings together intuitive technology and thoughtful design to create a connected, comfortable experience for all occupants.

At the centre of the cabin is an 11.6-inch full-HD infotainment touchscreen, designed for ease of use with familiar smartphone-style swipe and touch gestures. This system is standard across the range, with higher-grade models adding integrated TomTom satellite navigation. Unlike app-based maps, the inbuilt system does not rely on mobile coverage, making it ideal for remote or regional travel.

Smartphone connectivity is seamless across all variants, with wireless Apple CarPlay® and both wired and wireless Android Auto™4 available, providing passengers easy and safe access to music, messages, maps and more.

The infotainment system is complemented by an on-screen digital multi-function display and a second information screen positioned to reduce driver distraction. Select hybrid variants also introduce a new 12.3-inch full LCD digital instrument cluster. This display allows drivers to customise the layout, from classic dials to navigation view, and provides real-time trip, audio and hybrid energy flow information.

Audio quality across the range has also been elevated. Most models feature a high-quality six-speaker setup with front and rear door speakers and instrument panel tweeters, designed to deliver clear and balanced sound. Range topping variants are equipped with a premium Harman Kardon® system for an even more immersive listening experience.

Every passenger stays connected thanks to front and rear USB ports, including high-output USB-A and USB-C connections for faster charging. Front ports offer convenient access for both device connectivity and power delivery, with rear ports enabling passenger charging, keeping tablets and smartphones powered up and ready throughout longer journeys.

With smart layout, clear information delivery, and thoughtful passenger-first touches, the Forester’s infotainment and connectivity suite ensures everyone on board stays informed, entertained and connected.

Intelligent Design for Lasting Comfort

The all-new Forester puts real-world comfort first — especially when it comes to seating. Subaru engineers worked with anatomy experts to develop seats that better support your lower back and hips, helping keep your spine aligned and reduce fatigue on longer drives.

Pressure is more evenly distributed to ease common stress points, while the seat rails are now mounted directly to the chassis to minimise sway and better absorb vibrations for a smoother ride.

Safety is also enhanced, with a new side bolster design that helps reduce whiplash in the event of a collision.

All variants add heated front seats with select grades featuring power-adjustable lumbar support, while a 60:40 split-fold rear seat comes standard across the range for added convenience.

Subaru Forester Two Powertrains Same Subaru DNA

The all-new Subaru Forester offers two powertrains, each engineered to deliver confident performance, real-world efficiency, and the versatility Australian driver’s demand. Alongside a refined petrol-only option, the Forester debuts Subaru’s next-generation strong Hybrid system — a significant leap forward in hybrid performance for the brand.

Petrol powertrain

Petrol-only Forester variants are powered by Subaru’s trusted 2.5-litre direct-injection Boxer engine, now enhanced for improved overall driveability. Key updates include:

The engine produces 136kW of power at 5,800 rpm and 247Nm of torque at 3,700 rpm. Its broad, flat torque curve ensures smooth acceleration and strong performance across a wide range of driving conditions, particularly when overtaking or carrying a full load.

Next-generation strong Hybrid powertrain

The all-new strong Hybrid e-Boxer system has been completely reengineered to deliver greater fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and smooth, responsive performance — all while staying true to Subaru’s core DNA of capability and confidence.

At the heart of the system is a specially calibrated 2.5-litre Boxer engine running the Atkinson/Miller cycle. This optimised combustion process improves thermal efficiency and reduces pumping losses, helping maximise energy output without sacrificing day-to-day usability.

Unlike mild hybrids, Subaru’s strong hybrid system uses a high-output electric motor integrated with the petrol engine and a high-voltage lithium-ion battery. The system seamlessly switches between power sources — petrol, electric or a combination of both — depending on the driving load. This ensures a smoother, quieter and more responsive experience behind the wheel.

Key hybrid benefits include:

To support Subaru’s symmetrical handling and low centre of gravity, the motor is mounted low in the vehicle, while the battery is positioned just above the rear axle to optimise weight distribution and stability.

Whether in stop-start traffic or on long-distance drives, the Forester hybrid automatically adapts to suit the conditions, prioritising efficiency or performance when needed. The result is a hybrid SUV that feels intuitive, capable and ready for real-world adventures.

Transmissions That Balance Performance, Efficiency and Control

Whether petrol or hybrid, every new Subaru Forester variant is equipped with a thoughtfully engineered transmission designed to elevate the driving experience – from smooth urban cruising to confident all-terrain control.

Petrol: Enhanced Lineartronic® CVT

Petrol-powered Forester models feature Subaru’s latest-generation Lineartronic® CVT, re-tuned for sharper performance and improved efficiency. A broader gear ratio range (now 8.1, up from 7.0) allows for stronger take-off acceleration and more relaxed highway cruising. Lower first and reverse gears aid hill climbing – even in reverse – while a new 8-speed manual mode enhances driver engagement.

This CVT is paired with Subaru’s updated Active Torque Split AWD system, which dynamically adjusts torque distribution – optimised to the vehicle’s weight balance – to deliver better steering response and more confident handling across varying surfaces.

Hybrid: TH2B Hybrid Transaxle

Hybrid Forester variants, powered by Subaru’s all-new strong Hybrid e-Boxer, introduce the TH2B hybrid transaxle – a sophisticated system that blends petrol and electric power seamlessly for a refined, responsive drive.

The TH2B features a power split device (a planetary gearset) and a secondary electric motor/generator (MG1) that handles engine starts and battery recharging. A transaxle damper replaces the traditional torque converter to suppress excess torque and noise for a smoother, quieter drive.

Unlike the petrol CVT, the hybrid system does not use pulleys or chains – instead, power blending and delivery is managed entirely by electric-motor and planetary gear coordination, creating a seamless hybrid driving experience that’s both smooth and intuitive.

Recreational Ready, All-Wheel Drive Equipped

Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive

Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (SAWD) is a core part of Subaru’s engineering philosophy. With a balanced layout placing the engine, transmission and drivetrain in a straight line, it helps lower the centre of gravity and evenly distribute weight — improving handling, reducing body roll, and delivering a more stable, predictable drive.

Unlike some systems that activate only when slip is detected, Subaru’s AWD is always on. Power is constantly sent to all four wheels, providing confident traction on all surfaces — from dry roads to rain, gravel or snow. By spreading power evenly, each wheel carries less load, reducing the chance of losing grip and improving acceleration, cornering and overall control.

Paired with Subaru’s next-generation strong Hybrid technology, SAWD becomes even more capable. The electric motor’s high torque enhances traction and stability, especially on tricky surfaces, while regenerative braking improves control and responsiveness during stop-start driving.

Subaru X-Mode

The all-new Forester is built for adventure, and Subaru’s X-Mode system provides added confidence when driving on challenging surfaces.

Standard across the range, X-Mode is activated via the infotainment screen and offers either one or two selectable modes – Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud – depending on the variant.

Operating at speeds below 40 km/h, the system adjusts throttle response, torque delivery and traction control to suit the terrain. Snow/Dirt enables traction control, maintaining smooth, progressive power ideal for icy or loose surfaces. Whereas, Deep Snow/Mud allows more wheel slip disabling traction control, helping the vehicle push through soft or sticky surfaces such as mud or snow.

Designed for Safety, Engineered for Confidence

The all-new Subaru Forester builds on its legacy as one of the safest vehicles in its class, combining intelligent technology with a stronger, smarter vehicle platform.

Subaru’s safety philosophy is built around four key pillars – primary, active, preventative and protective safety – all working together to deliver confidence behind the wheel.

A stronger foundation

Built on the Subaru Global Platform, the sixth-generation Forester now incorporates a full inner frame structure – an advanced manufacturing method where the body framework is assembled first, and outer panels are added after. This significantly increases rigidity, improves energy absorption in collisions, reduces distortion, and helps reduce overall vehicle weight.

Designed for visibility

The Forester continues its tradition of excellent outward visibility – a key aspect of primary safety. Key aspects include:

EyeSight® Driver Assist System

Every Forester variant is equipped with Subaru’s latest generation EyeSight® system. Key features include:

Driver Monitoring System – Driver Focus (DMS)

Subaru’s DMS7 enhances preventative safety and driver convenience through real-time monitoring.

Vision Assist – all-around awareness

As a further preventative safety measure, all Forester variants are equipped with Subaru’s Vision Assist. This is a driver assist sixth sense which when combined with outstanding features of EyeSight® enables full perimeter preventative safety features.

For additional passenger protection in the event of a collision, each Forester has nine airbags, including dual front, side, curtain, driver’s knee, far side, and front passenger seat cushion airbags.

With its stronger chassis, cutting-edge safety systems, and visibility-focused design, the all-new Forester delivers one of the most comprehensive safety packages in its class – reinforcing its reputation as a safe, capable and trusted SUV for Australian families.
