 2019 RAM 2500 Sport 4 exterior

With 4 of the 10 top selling vehicles Utes they have certainly grown in popularity over the years.

However until recently if a buyer wanted one of the larger American styled Ute and Pick Up trucks there was a limited choice however Rob Fraser tells us about a local alternative.

RAM 2500 Sport capitalises on the Australian love affair with Utes. Starting out as a special build in the factory in the US all RAM trucks are remanufactured in a special facility in Melbourne by a local company called American Special Vehicles for both Australia and NZ. ASV employs over 300 people in the process.

Much bigger than what we are used to the RAM 2500 will sit six in comfort and has most of the safety and luxury features of a prestige SUV.

Powered by a 6.7L Cummins diesel with over 1000Nm of torque it will tow up to 6.9 tonnes and is ideal for the fifth wheelers and larger horse floats.

On the open road it’s awesome, but around town, in suburban carparks and inner-city roundabouts it’s just huge.

Priced from around $147000 pus the usual costs it’s actually excellent value and comes with a factory warranty and the ability to order factory accessories.
