Mr Juergen Sauer, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Australia Pacific, presenting two new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Vans to the Red Cross
Mercedes-Benz has donated two new Sprinter vans to Red Cross Emergency Teams in Victoria and Queensland.

The keys of the brand new vans will be handed over to the Red Cross today at Mercedes-Benz Melbourne by the President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Australia/ Pacific, Mr Juergen Sauer.

“The new Sprinters will make the work of Red Cross staff and volunteers much easier, allowing us to get people and equipment where they’re needed most” said Adam Dent, Red Cross’ Victorian Emergency Services Manager. “Being able to get our teams into the field quickly and safely is critical to our work.”

In Victoria, the new Sprinter will be used for emergency first aid during major disasters, as well as community first aid at public events. The vehicle will also support ongoing disaster preparedness activities around the state.

In Queensland, where many communities have experienced two significant floods in two years, the vehicles will give Red Cross additional capacity to support long-term recovery efforts and to improve the capacity of the team to respond when disaster strikes. Carolyn Parsons is the Red Cross Emergency Services Manager in Queensland. “This donation will really make a difference. Not only during an emergency, but in the long term recovery as our teams continue to support affected communities”

“We are impressed with the work and assistance that the Red Cross provides to communities across Australia during natural disasters and the recovery work that follows” said Mr Juergen Sauer, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific. “We are firm believers in supporting the communities in which we do business and the organisations that support those communities. These two Sprinters will enhance the Red Cross’ efforts to provide assistance, while reducing the time taken to respond in the event of a disaster.”
