Lexus will launch its most powerful F Sport model to date – the all-new LS 600h F Sport – at its exclusive Melbourne Cup Birdcage marquee this November.

Developing 327kW of power from its V8 petrol-electric hybrid all-wheel drive drivetrain, the all-new model will also become the first standard wheelbase Lexus LS hybrid to be offered in Australia.

Featuring numerous visual and performance enhancements, the LS 600h will be offered to the discerning driver who enjoys the comfort and quietness of an LS, combined with the engaging driving dynamics of F Sport models.

The all-new LS 600h F Sport will be offered alongside a 280kW LS 460 F Sport model.

Visually, F Sport models receive unique body work with sports bumpers front and rear, exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels, F Sport mesh grille, F Sport badging, unique fog lamps and a 10mm lower ride height.

Inside, LS F Sport models benefit from the choice of two exclusive colour schemes, 16-way electrically adjustable F Sport logo embossed sports seats, a dimple perforated leather steering wheel, a matching leather gear lever, and sports aluminium pedals and scuff plates.

Backing-up the LS 600h F Sport’s visual muscle is a suite of dynamic enhancements, including unique sports-tuned air suspension, larger six-piston Brembo front brake package and the newly introduced switchable five-setting Drive Mode Select – for control of vehicle powertrain and chassis settings.

Uniquely, LS 600h F Sport will be the first Australia-bound Lexus model to receive active stabiliser bar technology – for enhanced body control and steering response and precision.

LS 600h will also become Lexus’ first all-wheel drive F Sport sedan – ensuring all 327 kilowatts are transferred to the road, aiding a 0-100km/h sprint time of 6.3 seconds.

The new LS F Sport models also benefit from a significant 60 per cent increase in body rigidity, resulting from the adoption of new body bonding techniques, additional body bracing and increases in steel strength for the cabin.

The increased rigidity combines with changes to steering hardware and software to deliver a 20 per cent improvement in steering feel and response over the previous model.

Lexus Chief Executive Tony Cramb said that the new LS F Sport models continue Lexus’ renewed commitment to delivering engaging and enjoyable vehicles.

“The LS F Sport models enhances vehicles that was recognised as the world’s best, adding greater driving dynamics to vehicles synonymous with being comfortable and quiet,” said Mr Cramb.

“What better way to launch the new LS range than at the Melbourne Cup Carnival – it encapsulates everything LS stands for; design, innovation, performance and most importantly, best of breed.

“LS 600h F Sport becomes the flagship of our F Sport range and continues our march towards offering 11 F Sport models by the end of this year,” said Mr Cramb.

New LS will be on display in the Lexus marquee for the duration of the Melbourne Cup carnival, which attracts over 350,000 visitors over the four days of the carnival.

For the 10th year, Lexus will entertain over 200 guests, customers and business partners per day, with the finest in hospitality and service during Derby, Cup, Oaks and Stakes days.

The LS 600h F Sport will join LS 460, LS 460 F Sport, and LS 600h L models at launch in the latter part of 2012 and early 2013.
