Lexus GS F high performance sedan IS V8 Supercars Medical vehicle

Lexus GS F V8 high performance sedan 1The all-new Lexus GS F high performance sedan will provide critical support during life-threatening emergencies in the 2016 V8 Supercars Championship as the series’ new official medical car.

The GS F combines a high performance powertrain featuring a 351kW V8 powerplant and a dynamic four-door sedan body to provide the pace to scramble to incidents and the space to accommodate lifesaving equipment and personnel, including V8 Supercars medical delegate Dr Carl Le.

The new GS F medical car headlines the 2016 Lexus V8 Supercar support fleet in the Japanese luxury marque’s second year of partnership with the championship.

The 2016 line-up also includes the RC F V8 Safety Car and newly introduced IS 200t F Sport course car. The latter features turbocharged power via Lexus’ in-house developed 2.0-litre engine producing 180kW of power and 350Nm of torque.

Lexus Australia chief executive Peter McGregor said the GS F was the ultimate vehicle for the medical car role.

“The new GS F perfectly integrates the honed performance of the Lexus F line with the acclaimed GS to deliver a supremely balanced, engaging sedan,” Mr McGregor said.

“It will provide a reassuring presence in V8 Supercars this year, ready to deploy Dr Le rapidly to the scene of accidents so he can provide drivers with urgent medical attention.”

Dr Le, who has served as V8 Supercars’ medical delegate since 2008, said he looked forward to having the GS F at his disposal throughout the 2016 V8 Supercars campaign.

“Although I hope not to attend medical emergencies at all this year, it is comforting to know I have something as capable and potent as the Lexus GS F if the need arises,” Dr Le said.

“It also looks absolutely brilliant, which is an added bonus.”

GS F is the latest addition to Lexus’ high performance F Line.

It features an intelligent eight-speed Sports Direct Shift transmission and Torque Vectoring Differential (TVD) in addition to its high output V8 engine.

ZF SACHS monotube dampers aid dynamic potential while Brembo brakes provide its stopping power.

The GS F will launch officially in Australia next week ahead of the GS F medical car beginning duty at the opening round of the 2016 V8 Supercars season, the Clipsal 500, in Adelaide on March 3 to 6.
