First-ever BMW CE 04 scooter set to electrify Australian market in 2022

The first-ever BMW CE 04, which had its world premiere yesterday, will arrive in Australia for local deliveries early next year. The new scooter represents the final series production iteration of both the BMW Motorrad Concept Link that was first showcased in 2017, and the near-series BMW Motorrad Definition CE 04 shown in 2020.

The new BMW CE 04 opens up a new chapter in two-wheel urban mobility.

With its advanced electric drive, forward-looking design and innovative connectivity solutions, the new scooter merges transport and communication functions for a new, progressive brand of mobility in urban environments.

“The BMW CE 04 is our new electric star for the city,” said Oliver Zipse, CEO of BMW AG. “It combines an e-drive with emotion and motorcycling fun. The latest technology, and the best battery cells, which also provide power in the BMW iX. Just like the CE 04, all future new BMW Motorrad models for urban mobility will be pure electric.”

BMW CE 04 Power and ample range for city and urban adventures

With an output of 31kW (42 hp), the new BMW CE 04 has a powerful motor and delivers outstanding riding pleasure.

The classic traffic light start disciplines from 0 to 50 km/h takes just 2.7 seconds, while maximum speed is set at 120km/h, enabling rapid progress not just in the city but on main roads and the freeway.

The new BMW CE 04 has an ample battery cell capacity of 8.9kWh, providing a range of approximately 130 kilometres. This enables day-to-day emissions-free riding in the city, in an urban setting and for smaller-scale trips after work or during the weekend.

BMW CE 04 Innovative electric drive with liquid-cooled electric motor

The new BMW CE 04 has a permanent magnet electric motor with liquid cooling mounted in the frame between the battery and the rear wheel.

BMW Motorrad conducted extensive riding tests to develop a specific type of recuperation for each riding mode, giving the rider a high level of convenience.

This allows for optimum performance and riding characteristics for every road situation and personal preference.

Short charging times and charging systems based on BMW car technology

The air-cooled lithium-ion high voltage battery for the BMW CE 04 can be charged using the integrated charging device plugged into a regular household socket or via a wallbox or public charging station.

When the battery is completely flat, charging time lasts four hours and 20 minutes when using the 2.3kWh 10A charger. With the 30A quick charger, which is available as an optional extra and has an output of up to 6.9kW, charging time is reduced to just one hour and 40 minutes when the battery is flat.

If the battery level is only 20 per cent and the battery is charged to 80 per cent, charging time is just 45 minutes with the 30A quick charger.

Automatic Stability Control (ASC) enhances traction and safety

Automatic Stability Control (ASC) is fitted as standard on the BMW CE 04.

The new system is comparable with the Automatic Stability Control (ASC) system already offered on BMW motorcycles with combustion engines and limits engine torque in relation to rear wheel slip to provide additional riding safety.

Multiple riding modes cater to all styles

In developing the BMW CE 04, BMW Motorrad placed particular emphasis on providing opportunities for the rider to choose between maximum efficiency and maximum riding enjoyment.

Accordingly, the new BMW CE 04 features three riding modes: ECO, Rain and Road as standard.

Directionally stable suspension with one-piece tubular steel main frame

The main frame of the CE 04 features a strong tubular steel construction.

The front wheel is controlled by a telescopic fork with a slider tube diameter of 35 mm, while rear wheel control consists of a single-sided swing arm.

At the rear, suspension and damping are performed by a directly controlled, fully covered spring strut. The new BMW CE 04 is fitted with 120/70 R15 67H tyres at the front and 160/60 R15 56H at the rear.

Powerful braking system with latest-generation ABS Pro

At the front, a twin disc brake ensures secure deceleration supported by a single-disc system at the rear.

Standard fit BMW Motorrad ABS Pro goes even further than standard ABS with integration of a banking sensor. This system additionally controls braking during bends to further increase safety and stability.

10.25-inch TFT colour screen with integrated map navigation and advanced connectivity on offer

The new BMW  comes fitted as standard with a 10.25-inch TFT colour screen with integrated map navigation and connectivity.

Its outstanding readability, clear menu navigation and integrated operating concept put the new BMW at the forefront of the segment.

For the first time, the new 10.25-inch colour screen makes it possible to display a navigation map in the instrument cluster, meaning an additional display is not required.

Convenience is enhanced via fitment of storage compartments at the front and side and the helmet compartment can be operated while seated.

The BMW  also features a ventilated mobile phone charging compartment and USB-C charging port.

Powerful LED lighting units increase visibility in low light

The lighting units on the new BMW CE 04 are based on state-of-the-art LED technology and include a headlamp for high beam and low beam.

In addition to a rear LED light, the BMW  also features LED turn indicators.

Even greater safety at night is offered by the adaptive turning light, which is part of the Headlight Pro package. Both grade levels of the BMW  will be fitted with this package.

Special light functions with “Welcome” and “Good Bye” messages will also be available.

BMW CE 04 Future-oriented design and colour scheme

The new BMW CE 04 embodies a new, forward-looking form of urban two-wheeled mobility in its design approach.

The modern surface finish is in a striking Light White, complemented by matt black sections in the front and side areas as well as the ‘floating’ seat.

In addition, there are trend-setting wheels (solid wheels) featuring a disc-wheel look and an integrated side stand.

The new BMW CE 04 in the Avantgarde grade represents a striking statement of contemporary urban mobility with its Magellan Grey Metallic colour scheme.
