2011 Ford Focus Titanium Hatch Review

Known as one of the most popular cars in Australia, the Ford Focus range is extensive and excellent. In particular the Ford Focus Titanium Hatch is an absolute beauty in looks and features. Available in eight colours, including mustard olive and candy red, it’s compact, modern and sleek design is attractive to every eye. The exterior also boasts a large rear spoiler and tinted windows. A dominant grille at the front ensures that even a male can own the car without it being stereotyped as a ‘girly’ car.

Powered by a 2.0L Duratec GDI petrol engine, the Ford Focus Titanium produces 125kW of power @ 6600rpm and 202Nm of torque @ 4450rpm. The interesting thing about this model is that it’s not available in manual, only in the 6 speed PowerShift transmission. With a combined fuel consumption of 6.7L/100km, the Ford Fiesta runs at around 9.4L/100km around town.

Once inside, comfort and convenience are at a premium. With dual climate control air-conditioning, steering wheel mounted cruise control, front and rear parking sensors and active park assist. It is very easy to feel comfortable behind the wheel with V shaped sports seats that are heated in the front.

The media system in the center consists of a SONY MP3 compatible CD player with 9 speakers, steering wheel mounted controls, 3.5mm and USB auxiliary input, Bluetooth connectivity and a satellite navigation system. The Focus Titanium also has the option to switch to ECOmode providing a more environmentally friendly drive. Storage is reasonable with 2 cup holders, back seat pockets and a 277L boot capacity with a full size spare tyre.

As I have always stressed, safety is something that should be the top priority when buying a car, no matter what the cost, and the Ford Focus Titanium has hit the nail on the head with a 5 star ANCAP safety rating. This has been achieved through front, side, rear and curtain airbags, ABS, EBD, emergency (hazard warning) brake lights, Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Hill Launch Assist (HLA) and Dynamic Stability Control (DBC). The seatbelts in the front two seats are equipped with pretensioners and Beltminder technology.

There is also the option to equip your Ford Focus Titanium with a fire extinguisher, first aid kit and safety triangle. For security, the Focus is equipped with a Passive Anti-Theft System immobiliser, remote central and childproof locking. Further enhancing the safety and security of the Focus Titanium’s occupants is the ‘follow me home’ headlights that stay illuminated for a period of time once leaving the car.

Ford have done an excellent job in creating the Focus range. It’s exterior design is appealing to the eye for many age groups and its practicality and comfort makes it an excellent car to buy. The extensive range ensures that there is a car for every persons need and price range, however the top of the line, Ford Focus Titanium is a sure hit.
