Jaguar XF 2.2L Diesel at AIMS 2012
John & Helen Taylor are driving a Jaguar XF around the coast of Australia in an Australian National Record Drive attempt. The XF will then be on display at the Australian International Motor Show, where John & Helen will be sharing fuel economy tips with visitors and giving them the chance to attempt their own national and world records.

Australian National and World records will fall at the 2012 Australian International Motor Show if John and Helen Taylor, ‘the world’s most fuel efficient couple’ and founders of The Australian Book of Records have their way.

John and Helen are expert world record breakers and lifelong advocates of fuel economy, where they are committed to educating motorists around the world about how to drive safer and smarter.

At the end of September, John and Helen set off on an Australian National Record Drive attempt, where they will traverse 14,600 kilometres along the coast of Australia in a Jaguar XF 2.2-litre diesel in just 24 days.

The record-breaking drive will conclude in Sydney just before the opening of the Australian International Motor Show, where their Jaguar XF and footage of their drive will be on display, and John and Helen will be sharing their tips on fuel economy with visitors to the Show.

“We are very excited to be at the Australian International Motor Show where we can share our knowledge of and passion for fuel economy,” said John Taylor.

“We want to demonstrate to everyday drivers how they can drive safer, smarter, save fuel, save money and reduce C02 emissions.”

In another drawcard to their stand at the Australian International Motor Show, John and Helen will also be giving all visitors the opportunity to break their own Australian national and world records via the Australian Book of Records.

People of all ages and capabilities will be able to attempt Australian national and world records in categories ranging from food to technical to sporting, with dozens of attempts occurring throughout the Show duration.

“John and Helen’s passion for fuel economy and commitment to educating motorists about how to drive safer and smarter is extremely admirable and we are sure that all visitors to the Motor Show will learn something from having been to their stand,” said Russ Tyrie, Show Director.

“They are well respected throughout the world for their fuel saving techniques where they have exhibited at many Motor Shows and conducted multiple world records drives to demonstrate fuel economy.

“Furthermore, through the Australian Book of Records, John and Helen will also encourage visitors to the Australian International Motor Show to attempt their own Australian national and world records – for all we know, Australia could eventually hold the world record for the most Smarties eaten with chopsticks!”

The 2012 Australian International Motor Show will be held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour and will open daily at 10am from October 19 to 28.
