Ford Fiesta Zetec Review

Ford WT Fiesta Zetec front
Ford has designed two cars that are a massive hit in the young market, one of them being the Ford Fiesta. With a range of 5 different models, the Fiesta Zetec is the top of the line and a first choice for many young buyers. Adding to the Generation Y appeal are the 9 different colours including Chilli Orange, Aurora Blue, True Red, Phantom Purple and Phantom Blue. The sports body kit, tinted windows, 16 inch alloy wheels and chrome finish on the upper door line complete the funky yet stylish exterior.

Sitting in a manually adjustable sports cloth seat, the driver has easy access to all the information necessary. The instrument cluster not only holds all the regulars but includes a trip computer displaying the distance to empty, average fuel economy, average speed and outside temperature. Storage throughout the car is very good with a center console and cup holders, seat map pockets, a reasonable 281L boot and an interesting shoe storage compartment under the front passenger seat.

The audio department is one that younger drivers are the first to look at. The Ford Fiesta Zetec ticks all the boxes with AM/FM radio, CD player with MP3 capability, 6 speakers, Bluetooth hands free, steering wheel mounted audio controls and an auxiliary and USB input. The steering wheel also houses cruise control.

The Ford Fiesta Zetec comes in both petrol and diesel (thankyou!!), however my test vehicle was petrol. Powered by a 1.6L engine, the Ford Fiesta Zetec produces 89kW of power @ 6300rpm and 151Nm of torque @4300rpm. The petrol Fiesta Zetec has a combined fuel consumption 6.6L/100km however the diesel really shines consuming only 4.4L/100km!

A 5 star ANCAP rating has been achieved by the Ford Fiesta Zetec and deservedly so. With front, side, curtain and driver knee airbags, ABS, EBD, 3 point active seatbelts with pretensioners and Beltminder system, “Greeting” headlamps, perimeter alarm and engine immobiliser. The Fiesta Zetec is also equipped with Dynamic Stability Control with Emergency Brake Assist and Traction Control and the hazard lights activate on emergency braking.

Ford has done an excellent job in maintaing its reputation and further developing a fantastic car for Generation Y to fit into their extensive range.
